BIOGRAPHY

Megan Heekin Triantafillou received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2001. Megan’s paintings are abstract, non objective representations of aspects relating to nature and spirituality. She uses atmospheric blending with straight color application to promote an uplifting, interesting depth perspective in her works. Megan sells her work nationally. She is very proud to have a large body of work at The Cincinnatian Hotel. Cincinnati Children's Hospital owns an extensive body of her original paintings which currently hang in the Young Adult Unit on the main campus. She continually infuses new elements into her paintings which allows her to keep a fresh and innovative perspective.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art reflects my life. I often say the only rule in making art is there are no rules, much like one's own spirituality cannot be wrong. Above all my unwavering willingness to the absolute belief I can turn mistakes into something beautiful. That is when the special stuff comes through.

Major changes in life often simultaneously spur feelings of excitement and fear. Change may lead us into uncharted territory. People are forced into new places and viewpoints when they are forced to step outside of routine. The paintbrush explores ways to venture off the tried and true paths that have been laid out before us in a quest for a deeper exploration of what “is,” much like a kaleidoscope changes as light and motion interact. The potential is endless when thinking of the many variables and the mystery that can occur while using a kaleidoscope. This is my ultimate incentive. We don’t always recognize the outcome based on visual information alone, yet our mind, body, and soul somehow can comprehend it. We just know. The kaleidoscope tells a story. The painting just is. Our minds, bodies, and souls work together to create new stories that simply exist. It is a reminder to us that there is much more to explore. Creativity is the breeding ground for the unknown and abstract. The different styles all reflect the same goal, and, in my opinion, do not need to be explained further. Rather, we are left with personal preferences due to differences in our perspective and the way our minds, bodies, and souls collectively feel about them at any given moment. Abstract art will always be a relationship, not a dictatorship. Therein lies the beauty and the mystery.
